Arlington Woods Church Giving Summary: 

The 2022 Budget is $554,550.
To date (Nov. 11), we have received $420,575 in offerings.
With 6 weeks left before the year end, we need $133,975 to meet the budget target.
Therefore, we need $22,329 per week.

6:30-9:00PM Friday, Dec. 9 - CATALYST YOUTH, (grades 6-12) is meeting in the Creekside Room. Drop in between 6:30-7pm to hang out and play on some of our games tables or challenge a friend to a board game. CATALYST then runs from 7-9pm featuring fun games, worship music, a Bible-based talk, and a chance to connect in groups. Email ben@arlingtonwoods.ca for more information.

10AM- ARLINGTON WOODS CHURCH SERVICE - IN-PERSON & ONLINE: Guess Who's Coming for Christmas? - Week 3: "Visitors in the Presence of Glory"

Have you ever heard a story you thought you knew, only to discover you didn't know as much as you first thought? This Sunday Pastor Grant is going to explore one of those stories, and it involves Matthew's Magi following a great light that leads them into the presence of God's glory-his Son. 

The Nursery will be staffed.  

This Sunday, December 11, is Communion Sunday so if you're tuning in online please ensure you have juice and crackers on hand.

Christmas at Arlington Woods Church (Invite your friends!)

1. Guess Who’s coming for Christmas? (Advent Series Sundays from Nov. 27 - Dec. 25 @ 10 am)
Our Advent series this year will be following two family road trips: the Martin family as they travel to Grandpa’s for Christmas, and Joseph and Mary as they travel to Bethlehem. Both encounter adventures along the way.  

2. Christmas Carol-Sing Coffeehouse (Saturday, December 17 @ 6 to 8 pm) Put on your ugly Christmas sweater or even your fancy one! Bring the whole family to enjoy some old-fashioned carol singing. There will be rhythm instruments out for the children and Pastor Mike. Christmas drinks and treats will be available by donation.

3. Christmas Eve Candlelight Service (Saturday, December 24 @ 6 pm)
Candles, carols, the good news of Jesus’ birth. Need we say more?

4. A Global Christmas Day Service (Sunday, December 25 @10 am)
Christmas Day does not often fall on Sunday. Although it may not be your normal Christmas tradition, what a wonderful way to celebrate the birth of Jesus. This family service will be our opportunity to join with one heart, one voice as we declare. “Jesus Christ is born.” Join us in-person or online at 10 am.

5. Staffed Nursery  –The nursery will be staffed on the following Sundays: Dec. 11, Dec. 18, Jan. 8, Jan. 15, Jan. 29, Feb. 5, Feb. 12, Feb. 26, Mar. 5, Mar. 19, Mar. 26. For more details visit www.arlingtonwoods.ca/kids.

6. Deeper Roots for Teens (grade 7+) – This monthly Sunday small group for teens will meet in the Creekside Room on these Sundays: Dec. 18, Jan. 15, Feb. 26, Mar. 19, Apr. 16, May 14, and June 18.  Email christinev@arlingtonwoods.ca for details.

7. AWC Men's Retreat – Friday, Feb. 10 evening to Sunday, Feb. 12 lunch (save the dates; details to follow).

 

1. Pastors' Christmas Gift Offering - Again, this year, the option to give to the Pastors' Christmas Gift Offering by using bank withdrawal or credit card will be available for the period November 24 - December 20 ONLY, by clicking on the donate link on the Arlington Woods Church website https://arlingtonwoods.ca/donate.php

In addition, pre-labeled Pastors’ Christmas Gift Offering envelopes will be available at the back of the sanctuary for "in person" attendees on Sundays, November 27-December 18 ONLY. Please place these envelopes in the offering boxes at the back of the sanctuary.

We request that completed pre-labeled envelopes will ONLY be accepted on the above dates in the offering boxes and NOT to be dropped off at the church office.

4. White Pine Café New Part-Time Position -  There is a new Café Manager part-time position! Click here for details.

5. Membership -  The next Membership Sunday will be Sunday, February 5. If you are interested in becoming a member at Arlington Woods Church, please email Pastor Mike at mike@arlingtonwoods.ca before January 15.  

6. Tithes and Offerings -  Visit the church website https://arlingtonwoods.ca/donate for Online, Credit Card or Pre-Authorized Auto Debit options or visit the Welcome Centre in person for a Pre-Authorized Auto Debit brochure and form. Thank you for your continued financial support. If you have any questions, please contact the Head Teller at giving@arlingtonwoods.ca.

7. Hymnals -  Feel free to take home a hymnal or two from the Welcome Desk. 

8. Daily Bread Devotional Guides - Copies of the Daily Bread devotional guides for December-January-February are available at the Welcome Desk. If you can't be at church in person but would like a copy of Daily Bread, please email info@arlingtonwoods.ca with your mailing address. 

 

1. Respond Ottawa - Many local agencies (foodbanks, community houses, inner-city missions) are running low on essential items and the number of requests has actually grown significantly. To help your local food bank, please connect with them first and find out what their current needs are! Click here for a list of food banks in the Ottawa area.

2. FAMSAC Donations - Please bring your food bank donations to the FAMSAC bin in our church lobby.  We are happy to support FAMSAC financially on a quarterly basis, but regularly being able to donate food items is also very important to their sustainability.  

Items most needed: Canned goods (specifically these ones: green and yellow beans, corn, tomatoes, pasta, chicken, fruit), fruit cups for lunches, jam, cooking oil, sugar. 

3. Tearfund - The Tearfund Canada 2022 Gift Giving Guide is available at the Welcome Desk and in the Fireside Lounge.  For more information about Tearfund, visit www.tearfund.ca.
